Everyone loves to eat. But at a certain age, our body metabolism is not as active as it used to be, and the calories that we could previously eat without any worries are now stuck in our tummies.
Here are some tips for cutting calories without crazy dieting:
Eat your fruits. Different fruits have different effects on our bodies. Aside from the usual apple that “keeps the doctor away”, pineapple helps digest food easier while avocado burns calories faster. Mangoes and oranges are also rich in Vitamin C that our body needs to be healthy.
Avoid red meat. As much as possible, go for fish or chicken, because red meat has a lot of calories in them that is harder to digest. It would also be better if the food is grilled or broiled, instead of deep fried.
Exercise. You don’t have to go to the gym to exercise. Everyday normal activity helps. Walk instead of taking a car for short distances. Use the stairs in going down instead of the elevator. Take your dog out for a weekly stroll in the park. Do your own chores in the office instead of asking someone else to do it for you. Repetitions of these activities at regular intervals will surely burn up a lot of calories.
Eat vegetable sticks. If you are having the munchies, or craving for something to chew on, instead of buying chips or other junk food, chomp on some carrots or celery. They will help fend of your hunger pangs, and would even help burn stored calories.
Eat small, frequent meals. With a large amount of food, your body sometimes do not need the calories you have eaten and it gets stored as fat. By eating more frequently at smaller helpings, you are helping your body process its food intake, thereby processing those calories more efficiently. What’s more, you get to eat as often as you want.
Dieting is usually hard for most people because there is a strict regimen that must be followed, and sometimes, if you miss on your schedule, you end up getting worse than before.
