Anabolic diet
The anabolic diet is mainly created for athletes. The aim of this diet is to increase the growth of muscles and increase the level of burning of fat. It was developed to discourage drug use.
Basically, the anabolic diet reduces one’s carbohydrate intake. Eating less carbs would mean less insulin will also be distributed. The lack of energy source should be compensated with increased protein and fat consumption.
The “Anabolic Diet” works as follows: on six days a week, less than 50 grams of carbohydrates is eaten. On the seventh day, however, the dieter can consume as many carbohydrates as possible.
Benefits
Anabolic is a high fat and high protein diet that results to weight loss and muscle development. The dieter becomes more energetic, less hungry and has better health.
Assessment
Because of the six-day strict menu, the diet creates cravings for highly refined food. This results to dieters choosing cakes, pizzas and sweets on the seventh day.
This extreme change of diet is quite stressful for the human body. Thus, the anabolic diet is not recommended as a long term diet program.
For a normal body function, the body needs at least sixty grams of carbohydrate. If it falls below this level, there would be consequences such as fainting spells and loosing the power of concentration. The side effects are reason enough to reject the Anabolic Diet.
The diet is quite monotonous because there are restrictions.
