Getting An Easy Start to Ayurveda
Ayurveda is an ancient healing art form that originated in India. Today, the principles of the practice are being used by many people around the world to achieve health and wellness.
You don’t need to be a yogi, Asian or in deep transcendental thought to be able to practice Ayurveda. Anyone can start practicing it, since it is designed to be in harmony with the body and the environment. In fact, when you practice ayurveda, you’ll feel that it is easy to do because it feels natural.
Start your morning right
When you wake up in the morning, take the time to meditate. Start the day with a feeling of gratitude, and you’ll notice that you’ll be able to put things into perspective and start the day off in a calmer manner. You may exercise or do your yoga to cleanse, tonify and strengthen your body.
Also, what you eat in the morning sets up your metabolism throughout the day. Aside from drinking water, you should consume a stewed apple. Your breakfast should be light and warm to help ease your body into digesting heavier food items throughout the day. You may add figs and other fiber rich items to get your bowels moving.
Detoxify your body
To achieve vitality and longevity, ayurveda stresses the importance of an efficient elimination process. Ideally, you should go every morning. Your body’s sweat, urine and feces are seen as systems of elimination of the body and shouldn’t be prevented. When you regularly detoxify your body, you’ll have less toxins that will build in your system, which may cause disease and create an imbalance in your body.
Breathe right
If you want to start applying ayurveda in your daily life, you have to open your mind to the possibility of doing things in a different manner. It will only seem strange because it is a new idea to you, but as it becomes more habitual, you may notice that you’ll experience a richer, fuller, healthier, less stressful and more meaningful life.
Get a massage
A healing massage can do wonders to lower your stress levels, detoxify your body and give you a feeling of calm and well-being. Tension is release from the muscles of your body. If you steam before you get a massage treatment, you’ll further accelerate the release of toxins in your system.
Go to sleep
Take a warm bath and release disruptive thoughts before going to sleep. Turn the lights off by 10pm and avoid working or watching TV in the bedroom. Deep sleep will help you feel more recovered, energized, improve your metabolism and immunity and lower your stress levels.
