How Tulsi helped me keep up with some of the fittest people in the world.
As Chairman of a successful natural Heathcare company sponsoring a kidney foundation, I was invited to join a charity trek along the Kokoda track. It is recognised as among the top 5 toughest walking tracks in the world. 8 long days climbing up and sliding down steep muddy tracks cross the centre of New Guinea. To even attempt this hike requires special fitness training, and our guides were ex Australian commandos – all super fit.
I was invited to join Alan Border – the former Captain of Australian Cricket and the then world record holder for the number of first class runs, who regularly completed 1000 km walks for charity. Also in this elite team was Mal Meninga – the former captain of Australian Rugby and one of the fittest men alive. A number of Queensland state athletes made up the rest of our small team. I was the oldest in the group of ten, and by far the least fit. I was the overweight desk jockey with a long history of being non athletic. How was I going to keep up with these superstars?
I had fallen under the spell of Tulsi Tea from Organic India. Research had shown me that this herb was the world’s most effective staminator. I knew above all I needed stamina. Trials proved a near doubling of endurance when Tulsi was added to the diet compared to control feed only in a rat stamina trial. Nothing else pharmaceutical or natural beat it. I started my training while drinking at least 2 Tulsi teas a day. I was not a super fit athlete and my training was fairly ordinary, and less than expected by our guides. But I stuck to my Tusli tea regime every day. Then came the day we arrived at the track.
On day three of the trek we were tested to the max. Already exhausted, our group had to lead all trekkers out before dawn and as the ‘elite’ team and we were expected to walk to the furthest camp site on this day – requiring 12 gruelling hours which involved climbing to the highest elevation of the walk and returning to the bottom of the steep valley twice.
As we finally stumbled into camp at dusk, I was alongside Alan. He fell to the ground and said “Chris this is the hardest thing I have ever done – I don’t know how I am going to finish. When I scored a century it was mostly 4’s and 6’s – nothing like this.” As he lay on his back in the dust, exhausted. I saw massive Mal Meninga being helped down the steep slippery path by a native guide. He was in agony, his muscles seized by cramps. I climbed back up the track and offered him the use of my walking sticks and helped him get down to camp. As I returned to camp I realized that I felt fine, ready to help with setting a fire and making dinner. No one else in our team was moving. They all lay exhausted. How come me – the weakest link in fitness, was the one still moving freely and with energy to spare? Then it hit me…the Tulsi promise was for real. I was truly benefiting from this miraculous herb.
I completed this trek with increasing confidence and high energy. My two Tulsi teas a day were like a secret weapon. I know it was the difference and how I kept up with some of the fittest superstars on this planet. Thanks ORGANIC INDIA. Tulsi is now an everyday part of my life.
