Getting physically fit need not leave you broke. There are many ways to get physically fit without spending hundreds of dollars in expensive gym memberships or fitness club fees. Here are some of them.

1. Walk around the neighborhood. Doctors and personal trainers recommend at least 30 minutes of exercise 4 times a week. You can definitely do that by just walking around your neighborhood after dinner. If you’re living in a dangerous neighborhood, go to the nearest park. You can even split the time into two: 15 minutes in the morning and15 minutes in the evening. Very convenient, isn’t it?

2. Consider jogging or running. This exercise won’t cost you anything at all but a good pair of trainers. You can jog in the park or sports complex. However, keep in mind that if you are overweight or obese, it is not advisable for you to run because it would put a lot of strain on your knees. Running can lead to serious injuries.

3. Do yoga. Yoga, though commonly associated with women, is for everybody. Nowadays, you can find affordable yoga studios where you only pay for every session that you attend and not the whole month or whole year. If you are not comfortable bending and flexing your body in front of other people, buy a beginner’s yoga instructional DVD and a yoga mat. Do yoga in your room as often as you want to.

4. Play with kids. Whether they are your own or your neighbors, kids will definitely give you a full physical workout if you play with them. Play tag, hide and seek, or whatever outdoor games kids are into nowadays. You’d be surprised how fit you can get just by regularly playing with them.

Follow these practical physical fitness tips and keep your pocket healthy and stress-free. But don’t limit yourself to these activities, be creative and think of other ways to get your daily dose of exercise.
