What skin care ingredient is essential for preventing formation of wrinkles

Skin is entirely made of collagen. It the main reason why skin remains smooth and elastic.
When collagen production diminishes, as we age, wrinkles become more evident on skin.
The miracle worker in skincare products that make sure collagen production is continuous are called peptides.
Peptides are amino acids (basic proteins) that signal skin to make new collagen.

Quality collagen production means these peptides have to be deeply absorbed through the skin at the dermal layer.

Here are three things you should know about these peptides:

· The most popular signal peptide for cosmetic use is palmitoyl pentapeptide. It can be found in many skincare products and might be effective in improving the appearance of wrinkles/fine lines. You can find this active ingredient in Strivectin and many other expensive peptide creams. Yet it can also be found in much less expensive products like Olay’s Regenerist line.

· Using copper attached to a peptide molecule is miracle on skin. Copper is an effective agent in skin healing which is why it has been used for years to treat wounds and regenerate skin. Copper peptides also are antioxidants that protect skin from free radicals. Copper peptides can be found in Neutrogena’s Visibly Firm Night Cream

· Neuropeptides block off neurotransmitters from nerves blocking off contraction in the skin. Hence less wrinkles. This leads to smoother skin, similar to Botox. Neuropeptides are sold in products often called wrinkle relax creams.

But as a disclaimer for purchasing these expensive anti-aging products; we just want you to know that peptide complexes are not all the same.

It is still best to use a wrinkle cream with an optimal amount of peptides but at the same time coupled with several other proven anti-aging ingredients.
