Advanced countries like Japan and Korea have long adapted a strong and sensible skin regimen that explains why their skin is like the finish of a fine porcelain piece (and you can partly mention Kimchi in the process!).

While traditional steps in a regimen includes cleansing, toning and moisturizing this is but yet the beginning of a more highly requiring commitment to good looking skin.

Adding up 4 more key processes maybe tedious but definitely beneficial and logical in the long run. So in addition to step 1: cleansing, 2: toning, and 3: moisturizing, here’s 2 more for you:

STEP 4: HOT AND COLD PORE THERAPY
This step adds up a whole dimension in the skincare regimen. Imagine using warm water while cleansing and toning. This allows the pores to open up to receive the essential skin ingredients needed by your skin. Japanese are known to be fond of using cooling gels to close pores and soothe exfoliated skin, a common practice that is applicable for most Filipinos is the use of an intensive night repairing cold cream which usually has soothing natural ingredients like chamomile and lavender.

STEP 5: EXFOLIATION
Occasional exfoliation is also essential to bring out new skin and have a brighter (not whiter), clearer complexion. There are three types of EXFOLIATION, depending on the level of exfoliation that you want to achieve. Remember to exfoliate twice a week; and of course stay away from the sun at all times!

•Cleansing exfoliation are cleansers with exfoliating agents usually accompanied with small granules that inhibits friction to clean off old, dirty skin surfaces. Make sure to use gentle particles that come from natural ingredients like oatmeal (which when zoomed in closer detail is rounded in shape) – Try Jurlique Daily Exfoliating Cream.

• Exfoliating solutions are special chemical concoctions that cause the top layer of the epidermis to break away or usually peel off. For sensitive skin remember to always conduct patch test when trying out an exfoliation solution and if solution has different concentrations (1,2,3) always use progressively. – Try Jurlique Fruit Exfoliating Enzyme.

•Mask exfoliation are usually done with a cream clay-like ingredient (my favorite Kaolin clay) that usually hardens and tightens on the skin turning into a solid consistency. To maximize the effect of mask exfoliation I suggest to tone first the skin to leave it all cleaned up from any impurities, let apply mask then after 30 minutes wash off with warm water. Skin is expected to dry up and tighten after washing with warm water. Hence end the mask exfoliation with an intensive repair moisturizer.
